Caught on Camera: Cape Town Taxi Driver Stabs Man in Traffic

A taxi driver fled after a brutal road rage fight in Cape Town.

The fight broke out on 26 June in Maitland, at the corner of Canon Road and Voortrekker Road.

A video shows the driver dragging a man from his car. He drags the 48-year-old out and attacks him with a knife.

The video went viral this week and shocked many South Africans.

Victimโ€™s Sister Speaks Out

The victimโ€™s sister, Jameelah Pandey, shared the story on Facebook.

The driver was reckless and swerved in front of them often.

It got worse when the driver stopped and attacked him.

She believes the driverโ€™s assistant (gaatjie) may also have helped in the attack.

Thanks to his thick hoodie, his neck wounds were not fatal.

She said, โ€œBy the mercy of Allah, his major organs were missed.โ€

He was released from the hospital on 1 July and is now recovering at home.

Police Open Attempted Murder Case

Police have opened a case of attempted murder.

On 9 July, a senior detective was assigned to the case.

He met the victim in hospital and took a full statement.

Police are searching for the driver linked to CATA.

They are also asking for witnesses or anyone with video to come forward.

Taxi Association Condemns the Attack

CATA (Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association) confirmed the driver is part of their group.

They said they do not support violence and are helping police.
