Rand Water will do repairs from 15 to 18 July 2025. This will affect the city’s water supply for four full days.
The work will be done on the O2 pipeline, which was only partly fixed earlier. Full repairs are needed now, before demand rises in August.
Areas That Will Be Affected
Many parts of Johannesburg will face low water pressure or no water during the maintenance.
Here are the affected areas:
Water System Affected |
---|
Sandton systems |
Alexander Park Reservoir |
South Hills Tower |
Randjieslaagte Reservoir |
Linksfield Reservoir |
Midrand systems |
Pumping will be reduced, which may cause water to stop in some homes.

What Residents Should Do
Johannesburg Water has asked all residents in these areas to store water in advance.
They said:
“People may have poor pressure or no water during the repair.”
The city will try to provide water tankers or other emergency supplies where needed. But the best plan is to prepare early.
This is especially important for schools, clinics, and businesses that need water daily.
Water May Take Time to Come Back
After the work is finished on 18 July, water will not return right away in all places.
The system will need time to recover fully, and some areas may still have low pressure for a short time.
Johannesburg Water will monitor the system closely during this period.
