Established in 1966, and with a total enrolment of 2,000 students, the College of Business at Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU) follows a two-plus-two format in the delivery of its AACSB-accredited Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BS Business Administration) degree. Students enter the College of Business and declare their major in the third year of study. In the first and second years, prospective business students begin building the foundation for further business study through coursework in math, English, computer science and a strong liberal arts foundation. In the second year, they complete prerequisites in accounting, economics, management, business, law and the "second year experience course", which requires students to develop a comprehensive four-year plan of study.
Third-year students select their program from any of the College of Business's five major options: Accounting, Finance, International Business, Management or Marketing. The departments offer minors in the areas of Accounting; Finance; International Business; HR Management; MIS, and Marketing.
A number of innovative programs supplement the College of Business's curricula, including the MSU Honors Program, and an international exchange program with institutions in France, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Mexico, Austria, The Netherlands, and China.
