The Lienhard School of Nursing at Pace University (Pace) offers a Family Nurse Practitioner Master of Science in Nursing program, a Master of Arts in Nursing Education and a New Doctor of Nursing Practice program. For RN's who already have master's degrees, Certificates of Advanced Graduate Studies programs are available. For RNs who have a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing, the innovative Bridge program allows the RN to "bridge" the gap to advanced practice education via the most expeditious route possible. Upon completion of the Bridge program, the RN advances quickly and easily to masters education and advanced practice without having to earn a second bachelor's degree.
The graduate program also features an accelerated Bachelor of Science/Master's in Nursing (BSN/MS or MA) degree for non-nursing college graduates.

One of the first FNP programs in New York State, Lienhard has been preparing Family Nurse Practitioners for over 35 years. Through the innovative, hybrid approach of core courses offered online and specialty courses offered live in both Westchester and New York City, Pace offers graduate students the best of both worlds in higher education. All clinical courses are provided with an evidence-based practice approach.
Graduation from the program provides eligibility for certification by the State of New York as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well as the ability to take the national certification exam. The Master of Arts (MA) in Nursing Education prepares students to assume the leadership role of educator in a variety of educational and clinical practice settings. The specialty in education provides students with the latest concepts, theories and ideas that support sound educational practice in today's complex health care and learning environments. Content will include adult learning theories, chaos theory, learning styles of the millennial student and baby boomer work force, use of technology for learning and for teaching, how to work within settings that have great diversity of students, educational policies and key legislative issues will be considered. Curriculum design, assessment and evaluation techniques, and strategies for successful clinical and didactic teaching will be studied. This is an exciting program with which to begin an educational career. This program is also offered online. Clinical opportunities will be offered in the student's locale.

The Combined BSN/MS Accelerated Degree program is designed for non-nursing college graduates who wish to study nursing in an accelerated first professional degree program combined with a second professional degree program. Students are admitted as graduate students. At the completion of the required course of study for the first professional degree, the student will be awarded a BSN and be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination to become an RN. Students may then continue with the optional graduate (MS) portion of the program without further application.

The New Doctor of Nursing Practice program admitted its first cohort of students in fall 2008. Built on 35 years of experience in educating primary care family nurse practitioners, the innovative curriculum meets the eight essential content areas identified by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for the DNP. Pace will admit master's-prepared, nationally certified family nurse practitioners with advanced practice experience and give them advanced standing in the program. They will complete an additional 37 credits to receive the DNP.

Admission Requirements
 Applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee of US$65. Applicants must also provide:
• a personal statement explaining why the applicant would like to pursue the graduate nursing program you have chosen • two letters of recommendation from individuals who can knowledgeably comment on the applicant's ability to successfully complete graduate study forwarded in envelopes sealed by the recommenders
• a resume or typewritten outline describing at least the past five years of employment history and significant community, professional or college extracurricular activities, as well as including any recognition of achievement received. received.
• Applicants to the Combined Degree program must also include GRE or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores.
• Official College or University transcript (s)
• A TOEFL score, no older than two years, is required of all applicants whose native language is not English or who did not receive a bachelor's or master's degree from a US institution. Students with TOEFL scores below 550 (pbt) may be restricted to intensive English courses before enrolling in university coursework. International applicants who require a Certificate of Eligibility for a student visa must submit the International Applicant Financial Affidavit, which is available online, and official bank documentation indicating in US dollars sufficient funds available for one year of study.
• Combined Degree program: applicants must also include GRE or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores.
• MANE program only: Applicants must provide evidence that they have practiced for a minimum of one year full-time or its equivalent as an RN in a well defined clinical practice setting.

DNP Program applicants must:
• Be a graduate of an accredited master's degree program in nursing
• Have exceptional conceptual skills as evidenced by a writing sample
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.3 in their master's degree program in nursing
• Be a certified family nurse practitioner
• Have a minimum of one year of advanced practice nursing
• Be state certified as a family nurse practitioner and licensed as a registered nurse in the state where the capstone courses will be completed
• Submit a two-page essay with their application discussing goals for completing the DNP (Student essays must be submitted in Arial or Times New Roman, 12 pt. font size, with one inch margins, double-spaced. Student essays must have the applicant's name and the title of her/his statement.)
• Students will submit two letters of recommendation

 Expenses and Financial Support   study in america

Estimated tuition for graduate nursing students at Pace is US $793 per credit for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2010 semester. Financial aid is available and the Graduate Application for admission doubles as an automatic application for the Pace University Scholarship.

 Buildings and Facilities   study in america

Facilities include residence halls, a performing arts theater, bookstore, classrooms, computer center, gymnasium and dining outlets. Pace University has four libraries that hold a collection of more than 800,000 volumes and subscriptions to over 4,000 periodicals. Students have access to electronic and CD-ROM databases offering thousands of additional resources.

Learning Resource Centers are available on both the Pleasantville and New York City campuses. The Lienhard School of Nursing Learning Resource Center offers tutorial assistance, including clinical practice with graduate students, computer support systems, and validation of basic and advanced psychomotor skills. Computer-assisted and one-to-one instruction is available by appointment.

The Center supports both undergraduate and graduate programs within the school that extends to off-site clinicals such as Henry Street Settlement House. Pace University's nursing school in the only one in the country to have "George", a cardiac simulator to assist nursing students in acquiring advanced cardiac assessment skills, and was one of the first nursing schools in New York State to acquire the "Nightingale Tracker", a hand held computer for use in community nursing.
The Center has Graduate Assistants each semester who assist students in practice, validation, and tutoring of psychomotor skills. The Center is open Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours on a monthly basis.

The Center for Nursing Research, Clinical Practice and International Affairs (CNRCPIA) was founded in 1982 to facilitate the research, clinical practice, and international activities of Lienhard faculty, students, administrators and staff. The CNRCPIA consists of six units: Nursing Research, International Affairs, The Institute for Healthy Aging (IHA), Historical Archives, Clinical Practice, and The International Institute for Qualitative Methodology (IIQM) Cooperating Site.

The Student Services division at Pace has a key role in developing the University's culture and environment by engaging the full academic community in collaborative activities such as athletics and recreation, campus activities, and multicultural programming and events. Academic support services, counseling services, and information on campus services such as the bookstore, library, and residential life are also provided.

The Office of Cooperative Education and Career Services offers individual career counseling and job search assistance.
The Office of International Programs and Services provides a variety of services to help international students adjust to life at Pace and in the US. All international students are required to register with the office upon arrival at Pace.
