TUITION FEES FOR UNDERGRADUATE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Colleges in the US charge what are called "in-state" and "out-of-state" tuition. International students studying at colleges in the US normally pay out-of-state tuition. However, waivers that allow international students to pay in-state prices may be possible depending on your particular circumstances and country of origin. Be sure to check with the institution you are applying to for details about their tuition policies. Below are some facts about average undergradauate out-of-state college costs in the US.

Average published tuition and fees for out-of-state students at public four-year institutions in the US for 2008-09: $17,452. Average total charges: $25,200.

50% of full-time students at public four-year institutions, including both in-state and out-of-state students, are enrolled in institutions with published prices at or below $6,614.

Tuition and fees for public 4-year colleges in the US are most inexpensive in the South, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Tuition and fees for private 4-year colleges in the US range from $21,116 to $31,680 per year. The most inexpensive are in the Southwest, which comprises Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Tuition and fees for public 2-year colleges in the US are most inexpensive in the Western region, which includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

For all three institute types, the most expensive schools for international students are in the New England States: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
