International enrollment at grad schools in the USA has been growing steadily over the years. As a diverse, stable country, the US is a desirable destination for graduate study and for living, working and exploring.
Figures in the Council of Graduate Schools report on graduate enrollment for the fall of the 2007 academic year (released in 2008) show that international enrollment at graduate schools in the US accounted for 16% of the total grad school enrollment at the 683 participating US member institutions. The most popular fields of study for international graduate students in the US are engineering, biological sciences and physical sciences.
